This class will continue students’ mastery of dance styles and techniques of the peoples of Ukraine, and will begin to introduce the dance styles of non-Ukrainian peoples who reside in Ukraine, to include the Crimean Tartars. The class is designed to prepare students for eventual membership in the Eurasia Dance Ensemble. Class includes a character barre, center work, and the study of more intricate and diverse Ukrainian choreographies.

This class is designed primarily as a warm-up and technique session for performing members of the Eurasia Dance Ensemble, but is open to other senior dancers who are either new to traditional forms of Eurasian dance or are interested in continuing their study of Eurasian dance technique. Class includes a character barre and center warm-up. |

Description

The rehearsal of the Eurasia Dance Ensemble is closed to the
general public. Dancers considering auditioning for the Ensemble must receive permission from the Artistic or Executive Director to attend. The Ensemble will occasionally hold open rehearsals that students of the EDS School are invited to observe. Please visit EDS’ Events Calendar for a list of these dates.

This class is designed to prepare the advanced dancer with no previous training in Eurasian dance styles for membership in the Eurasia Dance Ensemble. The emphasis for the 2009-10 school year will be on styles of dance native to the peoples of Ukraine and Russia, to include the Roma and Crimean Tartars. Class includes a character barre, center work, and the study of new choreographies. Dancers with extensive training in Eastern European dance are invited to continue their study of Eurasian dance techniques and styles.

The Eurasia Dance Society will be launching its School in September 2009. The 2009-2010 year includes a complete curriculum in both Ukrainian and Russian dance for dancers of any age and ability. EDS is committed to introducing at least one new culture into its teaching curriculum for every year of its existence.

Tuition ranges from $10 to $15 per class.

Early Registration Discount
Any students registered prior to May 1 will receive a $30 discount on their first annual tuition. Any students registered prior to June 1 will receive a $15 discount on their annual tuition.
