Andrij Cybyk
Co-Founder and Artistic Director
Andrij Cybyk has devoted his professional career to the study and performance of traditional dance, largely of the Eurasian Region. With over 30 years of specialized training in ballet, modern dance, and folk dancing, Andrij is a recognized performer, teacher and choreographer of Eastern European dance, both nationally and internationally. He holds the title of Artist of Folk Ballet from the Virski School of Academic Ukrainian Folk Dance in Kyiv, Ukraine, and has taught for numerous organizations, including Dance Masters of America. Andrij has toured the world performing the traditional dances of the Eurasian region with companies such as Riverdance, the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, ALLNATIONS Dance Company, and Michael Mao Dance, among others. He is the former Artistic Director of the Syzokryli Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of NYC and the current Artistic Director of the Iskra Ukrainian Dance Ensemble and Academy of Whippany, NJ. Andrij holds a BA in Philosophy and Psychology from Duquesne University.

Zenia Helbig Tompkins
Co-Founder and Executive Director
Zenia Tompkins holds an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from Columbia University, and is pursuing a PhD in Islamic Studies at the University of Virginia, where she is currently serving as Adjunct Faculty. Her research focuses on religion and culture in Central Eurasia, Central Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. She is the recipient of numerous fellowships from the University of Virginia, the U.S. Department of Education, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Zenia regularly gives lectures and talks at academic conferences and universities focusing on Islam, religion and culture, and religion and politics both in the US and abroad. She speaks Farsi, Russian, Ukrainian and French, and is currently studying Arabic. A former high school teacher, she has traveled extensively throughout Eurasia. Zenia is a former 13-year member of the Syzokryli Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of NYC, and is trained in Ukrainian, ballet, and modern dance. |
